In her role, MacLachlan emphasized architectural precision and realism, ensuring that the miniatures were constructed with an eye for detail and scale accuracy. From an early age, he embarked on crafting adventures, fashioning everything from flying saucers to submarines out of unconventional materials like paper plates and refrigerator boxes. His fascination with iconic franchises like Star Wars led him to create intricate paper models of spacecraft, ultimately culminating in the opportunity to design and illustrate the Star Wars Mega Model book. This venture not only fulfilled a childhood dream but also marked a significant milestone in his artistic journey.
In addition to his paper modeling endeavors, Phillip Fickling expanded his creative horizons by collaborating with Evergreen, a forward-thinking company based in Taiwan. His work with Evergreen involved the design and assembly of products made from MDF board, shipped flat and assembled by end-users. During a brief contract period, Phillip also had the privilege of working with the highly creative team at Weta Workshop. His contributions included crafting collectible pieces like Frodo's helmet and a model of Mynastirith, both part of a limited series of 5000 pieces.
